Low in the southwest is the hook-shaped constellation Scorpius the Scorpion. Cygnus the Swan, Aquila the Eagle, and Lyra the Harp are more easily seen under dark skies. Each of these stars is part of its own constellation. Note as well, tonight Jupiter is at opposition, visible all night. These may be the first stars you see as the sky begins to darken. Bordering constellations include (1) Gemini, (2) Monoceros, (3) Lepus, (4) Eridanus and (5) Taurus. It also has a night mode so that you can use the app or site when out in the night without ruining your night vision. With fine double stars, dim galaxies, dark and bright nebulae, this is a treasure trove for observing.
